What a truly strange weekend. I guess everything is strange since that man won the U.S. election. It is worse than we feared with diversity programs being blamed for a plane crash, attacks made against trans people and “revenge” being sought against people doing their jobs.
And this weekend (in week 2 of the administration from hell), 25% tariffs were put on Canadian goods going to the U.S.
Canada have rightfully retaliated and our Prime Minister, in his last full month in the job had to make a speech to the nation. He did an amazing job at that though.
Who knows what the next few weeks will hold but Canadians are mightily annoyed.
Update Wednesday February 5th 2025
The tariffs were due to come into force yesterday. First Mexico and then Canada had a 30 day delay announced. We shall see what happens at the end of February. Since then, that man in the White House has moved on to the idea of ethnically cleansing Gaza. What times we live in.
