My godmother was my godmother as my sister and Joe were born in the same hospital and his mother and mine got on so well. Tragically she died from cancer when I was a student in the late 1980s. Sad to hear of Joe’s passing. A wonderful family.
I am not a big reader any more – I do blame the internet and doom scrolling and the instant gratification/dopamine reward. I am trying to be better and after dipping into Goodreads found that I could do it in a more fedi-friendly way. I read a mix of politics, leadership and political fiction.
As my use of the #fediverse was expanding, and without algorithms telling me what to see I decided to create lists of my followed depending if I wanted to see local information, politics, 2SLGBTQ views, tech stuff etc etc.
Unfortunately you cannot import lists into my new instance so the work was rather in vain – it also took ages.
Some clever bean should create a drag and drop tool to create lists and drop followees into them.
If you use Amazon Alexa speakers I heartily recommend the radio app Radio Browser which is an Aelxa “skill”.
It takes the list of radio stations from https://www.radio-browser.info and so lists many that are not normally available regionally (and you can add your own like I did for CBC Halifax)
